myFM has learned that Norfolk businessman and philanthropist John Race has passed away. John's son Phillip said his father died peacefully at his home on Wednesday afternoon. :11 Mayor Dennis Travale says Mr. Race's death is a huge loss and that he will be greatly missed by many.

WHAT'S OPEN AND WHAT'S CLOSED THIS LONG WEEKEND

With the long weekend upon us you may be affected by several changes that are occurring. The LCBO and beer store will be open Saturday and Monday 12-5 with both being closed Friday. The mail delivery service will be shut down Friday, Saturday and Sunday with all services being reinstated Monday.

OSHAWA ARTIST PRESENTS HER HMCS OJIBWA PAINTING

A buzz of excitement was in the air when Eileen Myers a well known artist from Oshawa gifted her painting of the HMCS Ojibwa to the museum of Naval History. The Ojibwa is a cold war era Canadian submarine and saw her last docking as she pulled into Port Burwell.

OPP REMINDING FARMERS TO DO A CIRCLE CHECK

It's often said the biggest traffic jam you run into in Norfolk is when you get stuck behind a tractor. You will start seeing more and more heavy machinery as we get into warm weather this year. Police are reminding motorists to share the road and be wary of the big equipment.

PULL OVER FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS

It's been 20 years since Ontario approved legislation to allow volunteer firefighters to use a flashing green light on their vehicles. Firefighters only use the light when responding to fires or other emergencies and it is asked that other motorists pull over for the vehicles.

GENTLEMEN OF HARMONY WIN MAJOR COMPETITION IN TORONTO

The Gentlemen of Harmony have done it again! Last Saturday, they took home first in the Ontario District Barbershop Competition in Toronto. The chapter has been dominant in the competition, winning the contest in 2011 and also in 2008.
