TOWN HALL CHOOSES SAVINGS OVER SERVICE, SAYS ONE NORFOLK COUNCILLOR

It looks like our water, and wastewater billing will continue to operate from a third party. The arrangement Norfolk has with Municipal Billing Services Inc to handle the billing expires in November, and Norfolk County Staff was recommending they keep billing in-house by hiring new employees.

PASZTOR, WILSON, TO HAVE SIGNS MADE IN THEIR HONOUR

Two new signs will soon be erected in Norfolk. One in Langton -- the other in Port Dover. Both honouring two local men who have achieved significant things. In Langton, Austin Pasztor will get recognition for his athletic prowess going from Langton to the National Football League.

PORT DOVER THE PLACE TO BE FOR CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS

The longest running Canada Day parade in the province will roll through the streets of Port Dover on Friday. The boat parade at the harbor begins at 11 a.m. and the big parade along Main Street will start at 2 p.m.

DRUG RAIDS UNDERWAY IN THE GRAND RIVER TERRITORY

Drug raids in Six Nations. Toronto Police has joined forces with Six Nations Police Service to execute three search warrants on the Grand River Territory. These warrants are drug and contraband tobacco related and are part of an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional investigation.

Police are warning people in Selkirk to be on alert after a suspicious man was spotted snooping around a house. Police received a call during the early morning hours on Monday when someone found a man lurking around their neighbor's backyard.

FIRE DESTROYS BARN NEAR FAIRGROUND

An investigation is now underway after a fire destroyed a barn near Fairground. It happened last night at 1106 North Road. Fire officials said when three stations arrived on scene the barn was fully engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

NO FIREWORKS ALLOWED ON PUBLIC LANDS, FIRE OFFICIALS WARN

Those hoping for fireworks on Canada Day will have to head out to one of the many family events around town because your backyard is not a suitable place. This is due to an open air fire ban that is currently in place for Norfolk because of extremely dry conditions.

YOUTH SPOTTED VEHICLE SURFING NEAR HARGERSVILLE

Police are warning about the dangers of "vehicle surfing" after they were called near Hagersville to stop a youth from riding on top of a moving car. The Norfolk OPP say they were called just before 3 p.m. on Friday to Sandusk Road by concerned residents.
