It looks like the skatepark in Simcoe may be sitting in storage for another year.
Back in 2020, it was first announced that money was going to be set aside to have the skatepark moved to a new location.
The reason being, the County was paying over $13,000 a year in rent to have the skateboard park at the Rec Centre and they wanted to move it to county owned land.
In May of 2021, the skatepark was packed up and has not been out since.
Three locations were being considered in 2021 – Evergreen Heights Park, Simcoe Lions Park, and the municipal lot near Simcoe Composite School.
Public consultation was to take place at the end of 2021 but was pushed back.
When asked, the county said there was no concrete updates in the near future for the skatepark but that there will be some public engagement and consultation on the horizon.
