Police are hoping people in the Houghton area can tell them who stole an irrigation pump that’s worth 20-thousand dollars. Police say it was taken on Tuesday from a farmer’s field south of Norfolk County Road 45. Police are hoping someone saw something and will come forward with information.
The Norfolk OPP is reminding the public not to leave valuables in vehicles. On Wednesday, police say thieves smashed out a car window to remove a purse. Over the past several weeks, the OPP has reported several vehicle break-ins and vehicle vandalism.
Here are some tips to prevent you from becoming a victim:
– Always secure your vehicle doors when parking your vehicle, even if you are only going to be a few minutes.
– Remove valuables from your vehicle. If you can’t, then keep them from plain view.
– Park in well lighted areas with high traffic.
– Clean out your garage and park your vehicle in it – locking your vehicle and the garage door.
OPP investigators are reviewing security surveillance footage in an attempt to identify those responsible of removing a sign from a business in Townsend. It happened sometime overnight on Monday along the Cockshutt Road. The theft is valued at approximately $500.
