This group isn’t folking around.
Folkin’ Vote held their official launch party at Burning Kiln Winery on Thursday.
They are a group of women wanting to ensure the community is educated for the upcoming municipal election.
One of the organizers is Meika Matthews who says one of their goals is to see 50 percent Norfolk County vote, which would be a significant improvement compared to 4-years ago.
They have released several surveys online to find out what voters are looking for.
When it comes to issues, the biggest one according to the votes is red tape and dealing with Norfolk County staff.
The Norplex, Misner dam, downtown revitalization and councilors working for the county as a whole compared to just their ward also ranked very high.
They are planning on asking candidates for their thoughts on this ranking and providing the public with their responses.
They are also putting a list of information on their website with everything a voter would hopefully want to know and are working with other organizers to set up candidate meetings or debates across the county.
They will either stream these debates live or record them so that everyone can view them.
Information can be found at www.folkinvote.com with surveys and videos from people in the community encouraging people to vote found on their facebook group.
This group was put together by Meika Matthews, Carrie Sinkowski, Chantal Zorad, Gail Catherwood, Claire Senko, Gail Bouw, Deena Denton, and Karen Matthews.
