Hundreds of people will lace up their running shoes for this Sunday’s Canadian Cancer Society’s CIBC Run for the Cure. The run has raised over $430-million for breast cancer research since 1992. Mortality rates for breast cancer are 44 percent lower than their peak in the mid-1980s, and approximately 87 percent of people diagnosed with breast cancer are expected to live five years beyond their diagnoses.
Heidy Van Dyk, who you may likely know as the Director of Social Services & Housing with Haldimand-Norfolk Social Services, will take on another role this Sunday.
She will take the mantle as co-MC and survivor.
The CIBC Run for the Cure takes place at the Simcoe Composite School beginning at 9:30 am on Sunday.
There will be a 5k or 1k walk or run.
