The partnership between the Simcoe and District Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Simcoe BIA is no more.
Both groups agreed to opt out of their Shared Services Agreement.
In a release, the group says that the shared services did not garner the result they were looking for that would benefit both groups.
It says that two organizations have very clear, distinct differences and needs and require individualized day-to-day management.
With that, both the Chamber and BIA will continue to actively work together on initiatives that will bring revitalization to our Downtown Core.
Moving forward as the BIA enters a time of transition of its Board under the supervision of General Manager Jim McGimpsey while the Chamber will continue to operate under their current board in consultation with now interim General Manager Emy Brubacher.
McGimpsey had served as GM for both groups up until now.
They will also no longer look to move into a lease agreement with the county.
The plan was for the Chamber and BIA to have a shared office space at one of the County Administration Buildings by Town Hall.
Recruitment is underway for administrative and leadership roles
