Our new Mayor and Council met for the very first time on Tuesday. Norfolk County Staff, including CAO David Cribbs, went over the essential duties of council, staff relations, and code of conduct. Cribbs spoke about the importance of wearing two hats: One as an elected official, the other as a board member for a multi-million dollar corporation. The County Manager warned our new council of the importance to know what role to play — mainly when it comes to meetings behind closed doors.
On Friday, our council will meet again for an orientation meeting regarding budgets. County Clerk Andy Grozelle noted that our new council will be faced with big decisions right out of the gate and will have little time to get their feet wet. The only two councillors to return are Roger Geysens and Mike Columbus.
