The Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation is looking to bring more affordable housing to Port Dover.
In a report looking at our current affordable housing situation, President Jeff Miller said the group has plans to expand 23 additional apartment units at 219 Regent Avenue.
The report notes that Port Dover, Simcoe, and Dunnville have the highest demand for one bedroom units.
Miller adds that more people are in need of their services like the growing homeless population, those with developmental disabilities, and those with mental health issues.
Norfolk County staff will now prepare a report looking at the group’s recommendation.
They will also ask the government for funding to go towards the Port Dover project.
