What a fantastic night honoring the hard work of our community members. The Simcoe Chamber of Commerce Awards were held at the Green’s at Renton on Thursday night. McDonald’s in Simcoe won this year’s Inclusive Employer Award. Store manager Patty Sullivan said it is their goal to hire and keep employed people from all walks of life at the Queenways hotspot, standing on stage with some longtime employees.
The biggest honor of the night went to Larry Dawson who was crowned Citizen of the Year. Dawson is well known in the community for his years serving as a volunteer. Dawson was diagnosed with cancer and said it’s the love of the community like this that keeps him fighting.
The Outstanding Business Achievement Award went to T & J Haskett Farms. Church Out Serving won the Outstanding Community Service Award. Hometown Brew took home Entrepreneur of the Year while Nathan Longstreet took home Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
