Downtown Simcoe is going to be transformed into a street party tonight. It’s to honor our offshore workers who tend our crops in the County. Organizer Tanya Van Rooy says she wanted to celebrate “carnival” which is a famous festival in Trinidad and Tobago.
Van Rooy says the carnival will also highlight an event called Day of the Dead which takes place in Mexico as a celebration of life.
The third annual event will showcase Caribbean and Mexican music and food as well as live entertainment, a talent show and a costume contest.
Fridays event is licensed. Admission is free. The event runs from 5 p.m. till 11 p.m.
