While the temperature is getting cooler by the day, local health officials are reminding trail walkers about the importance of doing tick checks.
Over the past few years, the Health Unit has spotted ticks right up until February.
With that in mind, the Health Unit’s Kris Lutzi is also asking people chopping down a Christmas tree in the bush to use caution.
Though we have seen colder temperatures, we have not seen consecutive weeks of long bitter cold that kills off these insects.
Lutzi says they are still awaiting results from the lab regarding their active tick surveillance conducted this past summer.
