The 4th annual Shoebox Project for Women is now underway, and officials say they need your help. A team of volunteers collects and give gift-filled shoeboxes to at-risk women within Brant-Haldimand and Norfolk during the holidays. It’s met to boost their self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation.
Local coordinator Kylie Vandendool say their goal this year is to raise 600 shoeboxes. Each shoebox is valued at $50 and includes gift cards, jewelry, journals, candy, and personal products like shampoo and body wash. The drive will run from November 12th to December 1st. Shoeboxes can be dropped off any library location in Norfolk.
