A group of experts, including a retired biologist, is increasing awareness about the state of the Teeterville Dam and its surrounding wetlands.
Right now, the dam is deemed not safe, and the low water levels are threatening the Teeterville Wetland Pond, as well as fish and animals.
Greg Deyne says that dam hasn’t been repaired in decades and it’s starting to fail.
He’s hoping that by increasing awareness, residents will pressure Norfolk County Council and those in power to take some form of action.
Deyne says the Teeterville Wetlands Group is working to get drawings to repair the dam approved by the M-N-R.
Once that is completed, and they know the cost, they will submit their findings to Norfolk County Council.
