A Grand Erie District School Board teacher charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference.
On November 1st, Brantford Police Service’s Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit entered into a sexual assault investigation where a female victim between 14 to 18-years-old was identified.
Police say the investigation showed that the victim had been touched inappropriately by a teacher at North Park Collegiate and Vocational School.
56-year-old Edward Gemmel from Vittoria was charged with one count of Sexual Assault and one count of Sexual Interference.
The Grand Erie District School Board sent myFM the following statement:
Grand Erie District School Board is aware of the charges against Mr. William Gemmell. We can confirm that Mr. Gemmell is a teacher at North Park Collegiate and Vocational School.
Grand Erie District School Board and Brantford Police take this matter very seriously. Throughout the investigation, we have worked closely with our police partners, and we will continue to do so moving forward.
Mr. Gemmell has been reassigned to home pending the resolution of his court proceedings.
Until those proceedings are completed, we can not comment any further.
