“It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the death of one of our Grand Erie students, Spencer Edwards, who died in a car accident yesterday, along with his father Don.
Spencer was in his final year at McKinnon Park Secondary School. He was a proud member of the Blue Devils football team, and he and his father were well known and well respected in both the athletic and Caledonia communities.
We want to express our deepest sympathies to the Edwards family, their friends and everyone connected to this tragic loss. Spencer will be deeply missed by students and staff. This sudden loss has been felt across the entire Grand Erie District School Board.
Counsellors and supports for students and staff were onsite at the school yesterday. This help will remain at the school for as long as its needed.
Flags across the Grand Erie District School Board have been lowered in honour of Spencer. The school also has a memory book for students and staff to sign. The book will be presented to the Edwards family at a later date.
Understandably, this is a very difficult time for McKinnon Park students, staff and the entire school community. We respectfully request your assistance in allowing them to grieve this loss.”
