A petition with well over 1200 signatures from people in Haldimand Norfolk has fallen on deaf ears in Parliment.
In Ottawa, our M-P Diane Finley rose to speak late regarding Bill C-71, an act which she feels will make life difficult for people in our riding.
Finley feels this is nothing more than the Liberals trying to re-introduce the long-gun registry through the back door.
In the last election, the Liberal Party vowed to reverse a decade’s worth of Conservative changes to gun rules they claim bolstered firearm-related crime. Bill C-71, fulfills that commitment through an overhaul of the background check system, new record-keeping requirements for retailers and further restrictions on transporting a firearm.
