The Norfolk OPP is hoping tips from the public will lead to an eventual arrest after a homeowner came across an intruder in Waterford.
On Thursday morning, police say a victim on Thompson Road East reported that a man had broken into their home.
The man immediately fled when they saw the homeowner.
Police are reminding the public to ensure that all doors and windows are locked to prevent anyone from gaining access to homes.
A Norfolk resident is out $12,000.
Police say between November of 2017 and September 19th of this year; a homeowner received several calls from an unknown man indicating that their computer had a virus.
Remote access was granted to the unknown male, and close to $12,000 had been taken.
Police are urging everyone to hang up the phone if you should receive such a call.
An odd break and enter.
Police say on Wednesday, someone made their way into a Windham Street garage in Simcoe and stole gas cans, golf balls, chicken, and beer.

An attempted theft at Ramblin’ Road Brewery.
People say that a man entered the building at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday and while the employee was in the back room the man opened the register.
The employee came out to find the man taking the cash and yelled at the man.
The man dropped the cash and left the store, getting into his vehicle and driving in an unknown direction.
Following the investigation, police were able to track down and arrest at 26-year-old Norfolk County man.
He was charged with theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
