As we enter the final long weekend of the summer, many of us are getting ready for family camping trips.
You may be going to your trailer for the weekend, or exploring one of our provincial parks.
No matter your plan, there are a few rules and safety tips you should keep in mind.
Alistair MacKenzie is a Natural Heritage Education & Resource Management Supervisor at the Ministry of Natural Resources and says that just because you are on vacation, doesn’t mean rules don’t apply.
MacKenzie adds that they’d like to remind everyone that, in provincial parks, you are only permitted to drink alcohol on your designated campsite, and not in public access areas.
Fire safety is also a big concern for the public park system. They always recommend that you have a method of extinguishing a fire ready to go, and never leave a fire unattended.
