Today is the last day for advanced voting. We can tell you that a little over 5 percent of Norfolk’s population has cast a vote so far. The biggest turnouts thus far have been in Ward 6 and Ward 1, that’s the Port Dover and the St. Williams area. County officials say over 8.5 percent of eligible voters in those wards have voted. The Port Dover Community Centre, the Salvation Army in Simcoe and the Delhi German Hall are hosting the final advanced voting today from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The county will have to cast at least 1500 ballots today to match the advanced voter turn out rate in 20-14.
Meanwhile, the Women of Waterford take center stage at the Old Town Hall tonight. Ward 7 Candidates Kim Huffman and Jean Montgomery will debate critical issues along with Mayoral candidates Charlie Luke, Kristal Chopp, and Russell Colebrook. This will be the only debate in this election where the female speakers outnumber men. No matter the outcome of the election, there will be female representation on council with Harold Sonnenberg stepping down. Huffman or Montgomery will take his seat. The debate begins at 7 o’clock tonight.
