Police say they are very concerned with the number of drivers who are putting others at risk. So far this month the OPP has investigated over 170 collisions, including two fatalities. Going forward, the OPP say they will be putting extra focus on our roadways, including the most dangerous road — Highway 24.
OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk says speed is the most common factor in every collision they investigate. Last week alone, the OPP investigate two motorcycle crashes that resulted in one death. They also investigated a five-vehicle pileup on Highway 24 and arrested a teenager for driving 160 in a 60 zone. According to the latest stats, the OPP, on average, issue eight speeding tickets a day.
