A proposed micro-brewery in Port Dover is at a standstill.
The former Misner smelt plant near the lift bridge was set to be converted into Chopp’s Landing: a micro-brewery and restaurant.
Kristal Chopp bought the property knowing that it was zoned to serve food but did not except the red tape that came with it.
Essentially she has been told that the property requires site plan control, something that could have her invest an additional $100,000 into the building before even applying for a building permit.
Chopp went so far as to paint “Norfolk off” on the side of the building airing out her frustrations before the busiest day in Port Dover’s history.
We reached out to the county but were told there are no applications currently on their table regarding a brewery in Port Dover.
