As Haldimand and Norfolk County move into Phase 2 of reopening, the Port Dover beach will remain closed.
The private owners of the beach say they aren’t in a position to safely open the area after consulting with the community and the Port Dover Board of Trade.
Because of the popularity of the beach, proper social distancing would be extremely difficult.
Norfolk County will also be keeping their section of the beach, at the end of Walker Street closed, though staff will continue to prepare the beach for a full opening at a later date.
Phase 2 however will mean that Norfolk County will be able to reopen piers, including the one in Port Dover.
Outside of Port Dover, Ontario Parks beaches in Turkey Point and Long Point will open up tomorrow, more details can be found on the Ontario Parks website.
