A hot vehicle can be deadly for your pet.
This reminder comes from the Norfolk County OPP following the hot temperatures we’ve seen this week.
The OPP would like to remind pet owners that not only could it be fatal for your pet, but it can also result in a charge being laid under the Ontario SPCA Act or the Criminal Code of Canada.
Each year the OPP get a large number of calls from concerned citizens regarding pets left inside unattended vehicles during the warmer months.
Parked vehicles can reach deadly temperatures quickly and it only takes a few minutes for a dog to feel the life threatening effects of a hot vehicle.
Dogs and cats pant to cool themselves, but when surrounded by heat, it’s ineffective.
Your pet will be more comfortable if left at home.
