Norfolk County has further extended the deadline for property tax payments.
Originally, the first installment had been delayed until April 30th, now the property tax payment deadline has been set to July 31st.
The County explains that they will be proceeding with pre-authorized payments as previously scheduled, but residents can opt-out of the program by contacting the County’s tax department at least 7 days before the scheduled withdrawal.
Additionally, if you have submitted post-dated cheques and would not like them to be cashed as scheduled, you can also reach out to the County’s tax department.
The County adds that people who pay their property taxes as part of their mortgage payments should get in contact with their financial institution.
The extension on the property tax payment deadline is something that the County hopes can help alleviate some of the financial pressures being placed on residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
