A big promotion for Norfolk’s General Manager of Corporate Services.
Jason Burgess will be taking over as permanent Chief Administrative Officer for Norfolk County.
The news was announced Thursday morning during Norfolk’s Economic Development Symposium.
Mayor Kristal Chopp made the announcement and following her speech she talked with myFM about her excitement to have Burgess take on the role.
Burgess is being credited by Chopp for finding financial deficiencies within the county and helping steer Norfolk back on course.
Burgess said the staff did the brunt of the work, all he did was come in from a different angle and ask tough questions.
Burgess will officially take over at the end of March.
Burgess had been working with the county on a contract, only in the municipalities a few days a week serving as the role of General Manager of Corporate Services.
Burgess says he is now looking for a place to move to in Norfolk as he takes on the full-time position.
