Last Tuesday and Wednesday, the Haldimand County OPP conducted a “Safe on 6” traffic safety campaign.
Members of the Haldimand County OPP along with other detachments and the Highway Safety Division, focused their patrol on Highway 6 from Tobermory in the Bruce Peninsula, to Port Dover.
Their campaign focused on the “Big 4” factors in injuries from motor vehicle collisions; speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failing to wear seatbelts.
194 charges were laid on Highway 6 in those 2 days as the OPP stopped a total of 229 vehicles.
In Haldimand County 31 speeding charges were laid, one stunt driving charge, one charge for distracted driving and one for driving while under suspension.
Also as part of the campaign, one radar detector was confiscated, two charges of possession of unmarked cigarettes were laid, as well as one charge of cannabis being readily available to the driver.
