A local high school teacher will not be returning to the classroom in the foreseeable future following shoplifting charges laid against him this weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, police were called out to a Queensway East address in Simcoe where a man allegedly stole merchandise.
54-year-old Christopher Harvey was taken into custody without incident.
It was discovered through further investigation, that Harvey had allegedly been involved in a previous theft of merchandise from the same store on Friday.
The Simcoe Composite School teacher is facing two counts of theft under $5,000.
The Grand Erie District School Board confirms that Harvey has been assigned to home pending the outcome of these charges.
