More than 550 future Kindergarten students and their families are getting an early look at school life through the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board’s Road to Kindergarten events.
The events are designed to help children become comfortable with their new school before starting Kindergarten in September 2027.
Future students will meet teachers and principals, explore their school environment and take part in hands-on learning activities. Children will also be able to make new friends, climb aboard a school bus and meet police officers, firefighters and other community partners.
For families in Haldimand County, a Road to Kindergarten event will be held Tuesday, November 10 at Notre Dame Catholic Elementary School in Caledonia. It will include families from Catholic elementary schools in Caledonia, Hagersville, Cayuga and Dunnville.
Norfolk County families will gather Thursday, November 12 at Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Simcoe. That event will welcome future students from St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Waterford, St. Cecilia’s in Port Dover, Sacred Heart in Langton, Our Lady of Fatima in Courtland, St. Frances Cabrini in Delhi, St. Joseph’s in Simcoe and St. Michael’s in Walsh.
Kindergarten registration is currently underway for children born in 2023 who will begin school in September 2027.
Families can register through CatholicEducation.ca and select a Kindergarten Checkpoint time during the process. The school board says families who missed the registration deadline can still complete an online registration and contact the board to see if a checkpoint time can be accommodated.
