With the Norfolk County mayoral debate taking place tonight, October 13, we’ve reached out to each of the seven candidates to learn more about their backgrounds, why they decided to run, and the issues they would like to address if elected.
Over the past week, we’ve been featuring candidates who joined us in the studio, giving them an opportunity to discuss their campaigns, priorities and vision for Norfolk County.
Unfortunately, we were unable to arrange an interview with one of the candidates, Ken Gilpin, who did not respond to our interview request.
Gilpin was also not present at two recent campaign events where mayoral candidates had opportunities to speak with voters.
The Long Point Chamber of Commerce hosted a debate featuring mayoral candidates and Ward 1 council candidates, while the Norfolk Federation of Agriculture held a meet-and-greet with ward candidates alongside a mayoral debate.
We were also unable to locate a website or social media pages dedicated to Gilpin’s current municipal campaign.
As a result, information about his background and political views is limited.
One available reference point is his previous campaign in the 2021 provincial election, when he ran as a candidate for the People’s Party of Canada.
We interviewed Gilpin during that campaign, although the discussion focused on provincial issues rather than municipal matters.
You can listen to that interview below.
With no interview available for this election, we are unable to provide further details about Gilpin’s current campaign platform or his priorities for Norfolk County.
