A Norfolk County resident is facing charges following a serious collision in Waterford.
As NorfolkToday reported yesterday, the Norfolk County OPP responded to the crash at Thompson Road East and Duncombe Road on Monday, where one of the vehicles caught fire.
The driver of the SUV was pulled from the burning vehicle, while the driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital by Ornge with serious injuries.
Constable Andrew Gamble provided an update, noting that driver sent to the hospital was now deemed to have potentially life altering injuries and the 33-year-old driver of the SUV has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and impaired operation.
Thompson Road East was closed for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene and police investigated the collision.
The OPP is using the incident as a reminder about the consequences of impaired driving.
Police say drivers should plan ahead, arrange for a designated driver or find another way home rather than putting themselves and others at risk.
