The Port Dover Sailors are back at the Shipyard this weekend, looking to build on a solid start to the new season.
Port Dover hosts Hagersville Sunday at 2 p.m. in regular-season action. The Sailors have already collected three of a possible four points through their first two games, with one win and one overtime loss.
Head of Hockey Operations Mike Tobin says this year’s roster features a fairly even split of familiar faces and newcomers.
Tobin says roster turnover is a normal part of junior hockey, especially in Port Dover, where players often leave the area to continue their education. The Sailors aim to develop younger players over several seasons and build an experienced core.
Leading that group again this season is forward and captain Trevor Nunn. The Tillsonburg native and Brock University student is entering his fourth year with Port Dover after earning league MVP and most sportsmanlike player honours last season.
Nunn will help lead a refreshed Sailors roster as the club looks to continue its positive start Sunday afternoon at the Port Dover Arena against Hagersville.
