The doors to some of Norfolk County’s creative spaces are opening later this month as the Norfolk Studio Tour returns September 26 and 27.
Organized by Lynnwood Arts, the free, self-guided event features 26 artists across 20 studios, giving visitors a chance to meet local creators, see where they work and learn what inspires them.
Curator and Events Manager Chelsea Brant says visitors can make the weekend their own.
Brant says opening the studios also gives artists a chance to share more than their finished work.
Visitors can download a map online or pick up a copy at Lynnwood Arts. Curated routes are also available, including Stay in the Loop, Rural Roads and Port to Port.
Lynnwood Arts Director Carole Aeschelmann added that those who want a sneak peek can attend the public opening reception for the Norfolk Studio Tour exhibition on Thursday, September 17 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Then, on Friday, September 25 from 4 to 8 p.m., Lynnwood Arts will host a drop-in route-planning night. Visitors can pick up maps and brochures and speak with staff and volunteers who can help build a route based on available time, location or the types of art they want to see.
New this year, visitors can enter a prize draw at participating stops for a chance to win $200 in Norfolk Studio Tour dollars toward artwork.
The Norfolk Studio Tour runs Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 27 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Participating local businesses have also been worked into some of the routes, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to make a full day out exploring Norfolk’s creative side.
