Norfolk County is reminding residents that registration opens today at noon for its fall Household Hazardous Waste collection events.
Two appointment-based events are planned, with the first taking place Saturday, October 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Simcoe Facilities Operations Building on Norfolk Street South. A second event is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Langton Roads West Yard on County Road 45.
Residents can bring materials including household cleaners and disinfectants, paints and stains, pesticides, pool chemicals, automotive fluids, propane tanks and cylinders, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, pharmaceuticals and syringes.
Electronics, explosives, radioactive waste and hazardous materials in containers larger than 20 litres will not be accepted, and agricultural, commercial and industrial waste is also excluded.
Appointments are required and are available in 30-minute time slots, with multiple vehicles able to be scheduled during each appointment window.
Residents are encouraged to check the complete list of accepted and non-accepted materials before booking.
