Norfolk County residents are being encouraged to lend a hand today as 98.9 myFM and 99.7 WOW FM host the All Hands on Deck Food Drive in support of local children.
The one-day food drive runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with donations supporting the Child Nutrition Network and its healthy nutrition and snack programs for children in local schools throughout Norfolk County.
Residents can drop off food, essential supplies or monetary donations at any of five participating locations: Wilkinson’s Your Independent Grocer in Delhi, Sobeys in Simcoe, Walker’s No Frills in Port Dover, Real Canadian Superstore in Simcoe and Foodland in Waterford.
Organizers have put together a shopping list of items that are particularly helpful, including snack and sandwich bags, cleaning or dish cloths, spoons and forks, paper towels and five-ounce cups.
The list also includes a variety of cereals, oatmeal, granola and chewy bars, whole-grain wraps, crackers and crispbreads, as well as individually packaged fruit such as unsweetened applesauce, peaches, fruit salad and raisins.
The goal is to help ensure children in Norfolk have access to nutritious food and snacks while at school.
The All Hands on Deck Food Drive is proudly presented by title sponsor Toyotetsu Canada, Inc., with organizers encouraging residents to make a donation during the day and help support healthy nutrition programs for local children.
Every donation, whether it is food, supplies or money, will help the Child Nutrition Network continue providing support to children and families throughout Norfolk County.
