A Waterford resident is planning for retirement, a trip to Scotland and a new hot tub after winning $1 million with LOTTO 6/49.
Steven M., a 61-year-old college professor of mechanical engineering, won the $1-million Gold Ball Draw prize from the July 8 draw.
According to OLG, Steven decided to buy a ticket after seeing a LOTTO 6/49 commercial that caught his attention.
He learned about the win while checking his email and said his first reaction was to scream, “Is this for real?”
Steven shared the news with his wife, son and daughter, who were all surprised by the size of the win. He said his twin brother was also in shock.
After years of teaching and mentoring students, Steven said the money comes at the right time and called the win “life-altering.”
He plans to use the money to help provide a comfortable retirement for himself and his wife, while also helping his children.
There is some fun on the list as well. Steven hopes to travel to Scotland and purchase a hot tub as he begins the next chapter of his life.
The winning ticket was purchased online through OLG.
