Norfolk County is reminding residents about service changes and closures for the upcoming Civic Holiday.
Most County administration buildings, ServiceNorfolk offices, housing and social services offices in Simcoe and Dunnville, museums, the Norfolk County Archives, libraries, recreation facilities and transfer stations will be closed for the holiday. Provincial Offences Court at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe will also be closed.
Emergency services, including Fire and Paramedic Services, will continue operating as usual. County parks, trails, marinas and boat launches will remain open for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Ride Norfolk public transit will not operate during the holiday. Waste collection in Simcoe will remain on its regular schedule, while collection across the rest of Norfolk County will be delayed by one day.
Residents can continue accessing library eBooks, audiobooks and other digital resources online 24 hours a day. Non-urgent County service requests can also be submitted online, while urgent concerns involving roads, water, sewer, parks, forestry, waste or drainage should be reported through the County’s emergency phone line.
The County is also reminding residents that fireworks are only permitted during the approved Civic Holiday period, must end by 11 p.m., and can only be set off on private property with the owner’s permission. Officials are encouraging everyone to celebrate safely and have a happy Civic Holiday.
