The Norfolk Friendship Festival is returning to Simcoe this Civic Holiday weekend, celebrating its 59th year with four days of free family entertainment, live music, children’s activities and community events throughout Wellington Park and downtown Simcoe.
Artistic Director and board member Sara Moody Veldhuis said the event continues to build on the traditions residents have enjoyed for decades.
The Downtown Simcoe BIA Friday night kick-off party will also include children’s activities, live music, Shakespeare in the Gazebo, kids karaoke presented by the Young Theatre Players, and a free outdoor showing of School of Rock in Wellington Park.
Moody Veldhuis said organizers intentionally focus on creating activities that families can enjoy together.
The remainder of the weekend’s schedule includes live music on multiple stages, buskers, a free Kids Zone, a community showcase stage in Clifton Park, the popular Classic Auto Show on Sunday and a Sunday morning worship service in partnership with Church Out Serving.
She added that visitors can enjoy the festival without spending a lot of money.
Organizers say this is a great summer tradition for the county and are already looking ahead to next summer, when the Friendship Festival will celebrate its milestone 60th anniversary.
