Patients and visitors to Norfolk General Hospital will notice construction activity outside the building as a major exterior improvement project gets underway.
Crews have begun installing new waterproofing, insulation and metal cladding over part of the hospital’s existing brick exterior. The upgrades are designed to fix leaks, improve heating and cooling efficiency, and give the building a refreshed appearance.
The project is expected to continue through October, with work taking place during daytime hours from Monday to Saturday. While hospital services, including the Emergency Department, will remain fully open, visitors may hear construction noise and see workers using lifts outside patient windows.
Hospital officials say all entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, deliveries and ambulance access will remain available throughout the project. The upgrades are funded through the province’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Funding program, and NGH is thanking patients and visitors for their patience during the work.
