After more than two decades of supporting seniors and adults with disabilities, Leila Thompson is retiring from Haldimand Norfolk Community Senior Support Services.
Thompson is stepping down as Regional Program Manager after 24 years with the organization. She began her career on Jan. 21, 2002, as a part-time Client Service Administrator serving Caledonia and Cayuga, helping connect clients with programs and coordinating volunteers.
Within a year, she was promoted to Program Manager. She later expanded her responsibilities to include the Hagersville office in 2014 before becoming Regional Program Manager in 2024, overseeing services in Dunnville as well.
The organization says Thompson played a key role in ensuring seniors and adults with disabilities across Haldimand County received the support they needed, often going above and beyond for clients, volunteers and the community.
Her final day is July 31.
Chantel LaBute will succeed Thompson as Regional Program Manager. LaBute begins July 27 and will spend Thompson’s final week learning the role before officially taking over.
LaBute brings more than 10 years of experience supporting vulnerable populations through community-based services, most recently with Lansdowne Children’s Centre.
Haldimand Norfolk Community Senior Support Services says it looks forward to continuing the high level of service established under Thompson’s leadership while wishing her a well-deserved retirement.
