Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady is urging the Ontario government to take a closer look at why record spending is not improving public services.
In her latest weekly column, Brady compared the province’s challenges to a clogged kitchen sink, saying more money alone will not solve the underlying problems.
She pointed to the ongoing strike involving about 4,000 community and social services workers, who have been on strike since May 25 while seeking increased funding and retroactive wages tied to Bill 124.
Brady said the Ford government has repeatedly highlighted record investments in healthcare, education and other ministries, but questioned why many front-line services continue to struggle. She argued Premier Doug Ford should “get under the sink” to identify what is preventing funding from reaching the people and programs that need it most.
Despite her criticism, Brady praised Ford’s proposal to explore a 3,300-kilometre oil pipeline linking Western Canada to southern Ontario refineries.
She also called on the province to consider the Nanticoke Industrial Park for a future major energy project, saying its existing infrastructure makes it an ideal location to create skilled trade067s jobs while helping meet Ontario’s long-term energy needs.
