Turkey Point Provincial Park’s beach remains under a swimming advisory after elevated levels of E. coli bacteria were detected during routine water testing.
The advisory was posted on July 9. While the beach remains open, Ontario Parks is encouraging visitors to check the latest water quality information before swimming or taking part in other recreational water activities.
Designated swimming areas at provincial parks are tested once a week from June through August under Public Health guidelines. The most recent sample was collected on July 7, with another scheduled for July 14.
Park staff say they are closely monitoring conditions. Once the latest test results are available, they will update the park’s social media channels and online alerts page. If the water meets provincial safety guidelines, the advisory will be lifted and signs will be removed from the main beach.
Ontario Parks routinely tests for E. coli because elevated bacteria levels can increase the risk of illness for swimmers. Visitors are encouraged to check current beach conditions before heading to Turkey Point.
