Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) is reminding former patients of a Brantford dental office to speak with their healthcare provider about blood-borne infection testing if they have not already done so.
The reminder is part of an ongoing infection prevention and control investigation involving Dr. George Chan Dentistry, which formerly operated at 353 St. Paul Avenue in Brantford. Patients who received dental treatment between November 3, 2021, and November 3, 2025, are being encouraged to discuss testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV with their healthcare provider.
GEPH said notification letters were mailed earlier this year to affected patients. So far, about half have completed the recommended testing. Officials say the results remain an important part of the public health investigation, even though no cases of blood-borne infection have been linked to the clinic.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jason Malenfant thanked those who have already been tested and encouraged others to do the same.
He said the testing is a precaution that helps protect individual health while also providing information that could guide any future public health recommendations.
The dental practice voluntarily closed permanently in November 2025. Patients without a family doctor can access testing through local primary care services or by visiting the GEPH recall webpage for instructions and a required testing requisition.
