The Child and Family Services of Grand Erie (CFSGE) Foundation is inviting residents to help make summer brighter for local children through its annual LemonAID fundraising campaign. CFSGE serves the communities of the City of Brantford, the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The goal is to help 350 local children and young people take part in summer camps, sports, recreation programs, cultural activities and other experiences that build confidence, connection and belonging.
Executive Director Gabe Minor said getting involved is simple.
Each free kit includes lemonade mix, cups, a pitcher, signage and a personalized fundraising page. Thanks to support from local sponsors Jay’s No Frills, 123 Supplies, Affix Label & Print Inc. and The Water Bar, every dollar raised goes directly toward helping children and youth.
For those unable to host a stand, donations are also encouraged. The Foundation says every $250 raised provides one child or youth with an enriching summer experience they might not otherwise have.
Minor said opportunities are tailored to each child. For older youth, that could include driver’s education, leadership training and certifications that help prepare them for future employment.
He said the campaign is also about neighbours helping neighbours.
Residents can register for a free LemonAID kit, make a donation or learn more by visiting the CFSGE Foundation website. The campaign continues throughout the summer under the theme “Make Summer Sweeter.”
