The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) has approved a balanced operating budget of $207.2 million for the 2026-27 school year, along with a capital budget of $61.9 million. The budget focuses on student success through learning, well-being and inclusive education.
The plan includes more Educational Assistants, additional Special Education Resource Teachers and continued growth of the Spectrum Abilities Program to better support students with diverse learning needs.
By September, every school will have a dedicated sensory space to help students with self-regulation and inclusion. The board is also investing in new classroom resources, updated learning materials and professional learning for educators.
Technology remains a priority. About 75 per cent of schools will receive faster internet service beginning in January 2027, while the first phase of a student laptop replacement program will also begin. The board will continue investing in artificial intelligence learning and classroom innovation.
Mental health services are also expanding with two additional full-time Child and Youth Worker positions. Officials say every student will have access to either a Child and Youth Worker or Social Worker, ensuring students receive support when they need it most.
