Environment Canada has issued orange and yellow heat warnings as a prolonged heat wave settles across much of Ontario. The hot and humid conditions are expected to last through Friday and could continue into the weekend before easing slightly next week. Norfolk is forecasted to reach highs of 34 C with humidex values in the 40s.
Toronto and Ottawa are forecast to reach highs of 33 C with humidex values near 42, while other parts of the province could see daytime highs of 35 C. Northern Ontario is also expected to experience dangerous heat, with humidex values approaching 40. Heat warnings are also in effect across parts of Quebec.
Environment Canada is urging people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on older adults, neighbours, and others at higher risk of heat-related illness.
