The Grand Erie District School Board has approved its renewed four-year strategic plan, We Lead Forward, setting priorities to support student success through learning, well-being and belonging.
Board Chair Brian Doyle said the plan was shaped by feedback from students, staff and the community through focus groups and a system-wide survey. He said that input confirmed the board’s strengths while identifying the priorities that will guide Grand Erie over the next four years.
The renewed plan continues to focus on improving literacy and mathematics, supporting mental health and well-being, preparing students with future-ready skills, and creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels they belong.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. JoAnna Roberto said the board has made significant progress over the past five years, including improved literacy, math achievement and graduation rates, while expanding student engagement and mental health supports.
Roberto said the refreshed strategy builds on those achievements and remains focused on high expectations, measurable progress and meaningful learning experiences.
The plan also introduces a Graduate Profile that highlights six key qualities the board hopes every student will develop, including adaptability, collaboration, resilience, critical thinking, communication and responsible citizenship.
The full strategic plan is available on the Grand Erie District School Board website. The board’s Annual Learning and Operating Plan will be introduced in November 2026.
