More than 340 people laced up their walking shoes to support hospice care across Haldimand and Norfolk, helping the 4th Annual Hike for Hospice raise more than $56,000.
The fundraising event, organized by Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice, also attracted support from more than 360 individual donors. Organizers said the event celebrated community, compassion, and remembrance while supporting local families facing life-limiting illness, grief, and loss.
“The success of this year’s Hike for Hospice demonstrates the incredible generosity and compassion that exists throughout Haldimand and Norfolk,” said Andrea Binkle.
Funds raised will help support a variety of free programs and services, including hospice palliative care, grief and bereavement support, caregiver resources, wellness programs, and community outreach initiatives.
Organizers noted that many participants walked in memory or honour of loved ones, creating a strong sense of hope and connection throughout the event.
Binkle said the hike is about more than fundraising, providing an opportunity for residents to come together, support one another, and help ensure compassionate care remains available for future generations.
The Hospice thanked sponsors, volunteers, donors, and participants for helping make the event a success and is already looking ahead to its fifth annual hike next year.
