The Ontario Provincial Police is reminding drivers to remain vigilant at intersections following the conclusion of its week-long “Stop. Look. Live.” traffic safety campaign.
The campaign focused on reducing preventable collisions by encouraging drivers to stop completely, check carefully before proceeding, and avoid distractions behind the wheel.
The message comes just days after a tragic collision in Norfolk County claimed two lives.
The crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Blue Line Road and Concession 6 of Woodhouse.
“Every life lost on our roads is one too many. These tragedies are preventable, and every driver has a role to play in keeping our roads safe.” – Staff Sergeant Julie McLeod, West Region OPP Traffic and Marine.
Police are reminding motorists to come to a complete stop at stop signs, look more than once before entering an intersection, ensure the roadway is clear, and stay focused on driving.
The OPP says taking a few extra seconds at an intersection can make the difference between life and death, adding that safe driving habits must continue every day, not just during enforcement campaigns.
