The list of candidates seeking elected office in Norfolk County continues to grow as additional nomination papers are filed ahead of the 2026 municipal election.
The biggest development comes in the mayoral race, where Keith Milner has officially entered the contest.
Milner joins an increasingly crowded field that already includes current Ward 5 councillor Doug Brunton, former Norfolk County councillor Noel Haydt, former Haldimand County mayor Ken Hewitt, and local realtor Rhyus Reeves.
The race to replace Mayor Amy Martin has attracted significant interest after Martin announced earlier this year that she would not seek another term. Her decision guarantees Norfolk County will have a new mayor following the October election.
The municipal election picture is also becoming clearer in several council wards.
In Ward 5, Kevin Allen has officially entered the race for county council.
At least one seat will be open after current Brunton opted to run for mayor instead of seeking re-election to council.
Other Ward 5 councillor Alan Duthie has not indicated if he will be seeking re-election.
Ward 3 has also gained another candidate. Doug Moyaert officially filed nomination papers today (June 2nd) and joins Chris Gill and Hetty Verlinden in the race.
The seat is expected to be open, with current Ward 3 councillor Mike Columbus previously stating he does not intend to seek re-election.
Meanwhile, in Ward 6, Pam Taylor has filed nomination papers and will seek a seat on council.
Current Ward 6 councillor Adam Veri has previously told MyFM he intends to run again, although he has not yet officially filed nomination papers.
Additional candidates are expected to enter races across Norfolk County in the coming weeks as the nomination period continues.
Residents will head to the polls in October to elect a new mayor and council for the next four-year term.
