Parking at Norfolk General Hospital will cost slightly more beginning next month as the hospital adjusts rates for the first time in more than a decade.
Norfolk General Hospital announced parking fees will increase from $7 to $8 per exit effective June 1, 2026. Hospital officials say parking revenue plays an important role in supporting patient care, hospital services, and infrastructure improvements while helping maintain the hospital’s financial stability.
According to the hospital, the updated rate follows the Ministry of Health’s Hospital Parking Directive and will still remain among the lowest parking rates in the region despite rising operational costs.
“We know any increase can be difficult for patients and families, and we did not make this decision lightly,” said Dan Hill, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. “NGH has kept parking rates unchanged for more than a decade. This increase will help support the hospital’s financial sustainability while continuing to invest in patient care for our community.”
The hospital says discounted monthly parking passes for visitors will continue to be offered in an effort to keep parking accessible for patients and families who require frequent visits.
Additional information about parking rates, visitor passes, and payment options is available through Norfolk General Hospital’s website.
